Xena's story began on the side of a quiet road, where a tiny puppy with hopeful eyes was left behind. She didn't understand why she was alone. She waited for a long time, but no one came back. Hungry and trembling, she wandered until she found her way to an elderly couple's house. Too weak to bark, she simply sat by their door, silently asking for help. When they found her -- thin, dirty, and shaking -- she didn't run. She just looked up at them, still full of hope. Though she had been dumped, Xena's spirit never broke. She chose love over fear, and in doing so, she was rescued by these kind people who brought her to the Humane Society of Lincoln County, to give Xena a second chance at life, and to find her forever home.
