About Hank
Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! Meet Hank, a sweet and silly 2-year-old, 62-pound Basset/Lab mix who is neutered and fully housebroken. Hank is eligible for the foster-to-adopt program and is searching for a loving, patient home—ideally with a woman or a couple, as he tends to be a little nervous around men but is a wonderful companion for ladies. His foster family describes him as gentle, loving, and affectionate, thriving on belly rubs after his walks and enjoying lazy naps or playtime with his favorite toys and bones. Hank is particularly great with routines, never having accidents indoors, and he adapts efficiently to house rules, quickly learning essential commands such as "no" and "drop it," showing off his intelligence and adaptability. Though he can be shy and reserved with new people, especially men, Hank is calm indoors and doesn't react much to household noises, except for the vacuum. He is quiet, rarely vocalizes, and is not destructive when left alone—he’s fully past the separation anxiety stage. Hank is also comfortable in his crate while you're out or during the night. When it comes to other dogs, he’s friendly and would gladly share his home with a canine friend. He has a moderate cuddling level—he’ll snuggle when in the mood, but also enjoys relaxing in his own bed. Hank does well on a leash, walks politely, and prefers quieter neighborhoods or suburbs since bustling city noise can be unnerving. Hank is best suited for homes with kids aged 12 and up due to his size and occasional skittishness. Veterinary care is up to date, including DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines, and he has been microchipped and dewormed. Hank’s journey began in a high-risk shelter, and now, thanks to loving foster care, he is ready for a fresh start and a stable, loving home. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Hank
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound mixes tend to adapt well to both houses and spacious apartments, especially if the neighborhood is calm. They appreciate a stable, low-stress home environment where they can interact with their family but also have their own quiet space.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
This mix benefits from access to a yard or regular visits to parks, but they can thrive in homes with daily walks and exercise. A securely fenced outdoor space is ideal but not essential if exercise needs are met.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Labrador Retriever/Basset mixes are generally gentle and patient, making them suitable for homes with older children who understand and respect dogs. Supervision is always encouraged, especially with larger, sometimes skittish dogs.
