Lilly’s story nearly ended too soon — she was on the euthanasia list at a crowded Houston shelter simply due to lack of space. Thankfully, her amazing foster mom stepped up just in time, and Lilly has been showing her gratitude with tail wags, kisses, and love ever since. Don’t let her age fool you — Lilly still has plenty of pep in her step and absolutely lives for playtime! She’s a big fan of tug-of-war with rope toys, chasing balls in the yard, and going on long, sniff-filled walks. She’s also cat-experienced and has shown she can be redirected when her interest in the resident feline gets a little too intense. While she hasn’t been tested with children, her loving nature and gentle demeanor suggest she’d likely do well with respectful older kids. Lilly is both crate-trained and potty-trained, and she’s incredibly polite in the home—she’ll even tap the door to let you know when she needs to go out. She does best when fed separately from other dogs, as she prefers to keep her meals to herself, but has no issues with people near her food. Her ideal home? One that’s moderately active, with access to the outdoors and humans who are around often—because nothing makes Lilly happier than being your loyal shadow.
