Meet Sophie, a smart, loyal, and loving 3-year-old shepherd mix! She has a friendly nature, is eager to please, and thrives on both mental and physical stimulation—walks, playtime, and training sessions are her favorite. Sophie is affectionate and forms strong bonds with her humans, making her a devoted companion. Sophie is picky about her doggie friends (especially with small dogs) and may do best as your one and only. If you do have another pup at home a meet and greet is recommended. She’s looking for a forever home that will give her plenty of love, and let her shine as the loyal, loving dog she is. Sophie is ready to bring joy, fun, and companionship to her new family. A Volunteer Perspective – Time with Sophie My husband and I took Sophie out for a quick Doggy Day Out to the park, and she showed us just how much potential she has. Sophie is a beautiful shepherd pup who can be a bit timid as she learns about the world around her. On the trails, she enjoyed all the new smells and sights, and once she settled in, her tail started wagging as she took it all in. Sophie knows sit, down, and shake, and she loves being near her people. She can be reactive to other dogs and may do best as your one and only. She’s ready for a safe place to land where she can decompress, build confidence, and learn that the world is a safe place. Back at the shelter, she surprised us with joyful zoomies in the yard, showing the playful, happy girl waiting to shine. With a little patience, and love, Sophie will make a wonderful companion.
