Roosevelt is a reserved tuxedo cat with a subtle brown glow to his fur and impressively long whiskers. His early years were rough—he survived outdoors in a trailer park before being rescued in poor health. He faced chronic sinus problems, suffered an untreated respiratory infection, and endured significant dental issues, resulting in the loss of all his teeth. Thanks to these interventions, Roosevelt now manages his health but still deals with minor, lingering sinus drainage. Keeping his nose clean with a daily warm washcloth is part of the routine. He keeps to himself, preferring the comfort of a favorite bed over interaction. Roosevelt doesn’t crave company, but he coexists peacefully with other cats and sometimes explores when the house is quiet. He’s not quick to seek affection and may swat if petted, but with no teeth, biting isn’t a risk. Vets and volunteers note that Roosevelt still has a gentle side, and with patience—and the motivation of treats and wet food—he may slowly reveal more trust. Roosevelt would thrive in a calm home with a predictable routine, ideally with a single person or quiet couple. Homes with younger children wouldn’t be a good match.
