Mya is a large, adult mixed breed dog in Greer, SC. She’s a short-coated, spayed female who is fully house trained and up to date on vaccinations. Mya gets along well with other dogs but will need a cat-free home. She’s looking for a stable home where her confidence and trust can continue to grow.

About Mya

Mya is just two years old, but she’s already seen more disruption than most dogs ever will. She’s moved between several homes and never had a real chance to settle and learn what it means to feel safe. When Mya first arrived at the rescue, she was unsure of boundaries and wary of new people. It’s not her fault—she’s only known inconsistency so far. Instead of letting that cycle repeat, her foster and the rescue have gone all-in on giving Mya what she’s always needed: active support, structure, and kindness. With expert help, Mya is working on confidence-building and patient, positive training, including muzzle training—not because she’s aggressive, but as a supportive safety tool to help her feel secure. She’s making impressive progress already, showing greater calmness and trust day by day. Public outings are now less stressful for her, and she’s learned how to greet other dogs appropriately. At heart, Mya is a sweet, devoted dog who forms strong bonds once she feels safe. She enjoys playtime with other dogs and relaxes when she knows what’s expected of her. Her ideal home won’t have cats or small children, and her adopters will need to commit to ongoing structure, patience, and training. Mya isn’t “too much”—she’s just been through a lot, and now she’s finally, steadily finding her way. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
