Zen (fka Nellie) originally came in as a stray in July 2025 and was adopted, but was recently surrendered due financial and time constraints. Zen is a shy little lady who needs a soft place to land. The shelter is overwhelming for her, and she's still learning that the world isn't so scary. With a few tasty treats and a calm approach, Zen begins to open up and show her sweet, gentle side. Once outside, Zen walks beautifully on leash and takes comfort in quiet moments. She loves sniffing around the yard, coming when called, and she already knows how to sit! She takes treats softly from your hand and allows all handling with kindness and grace. Zen isn't interested in toys right now, she's more of a "sit by your side and take it all in" kind of girl. She's looking for a calm home where she can build trust at her own pace. I heavily treated her & she slowly started to warm up. She would take them out of my hand easily & with a little leash pressure & treats near the kennel door she hoped out to head outside LEASH SKILLS: Well mannered on leash. Would retreat underfoot when strangers were walking by. SOCIABILITY: Zen sniffed around the yard and walked around with a loose body. She began to show interest in her surroundings & more interest in me as time went on. She comes when calls, knows sit, and takes treats very gently. she allowed all handling from me and was very sweet & gentle.
