About Poncho

Poncho is a 6-year-old American Bulldog mix with big goofy energy and a giddy zest for life. He’s 60 pounds of spotty charm who approaches each day—most of them spent outdoors until recently—as a chance to discover new joys: a kiddie pool, a comfy bed, belly rubs, toys, or a wide-open yard for zoomies. Every person he meets gets an enthusiastic, wiggly greeting. Poncho’s heart is enormous, but he’s still working on manners; his excitement often leads to leaping up, so a home without small kids is best for now. Before rescue, Poncho mostly lived outside. Crate and house training were foreign concepts to him, but he’s made lots of progress. Now, he’s kennel-savvy and does well in confined spaces for longer periods. He’s nearly house trained but sometimes still marks as he settles in—something likely to ease once he learns a home routine. Training basics are still in progress, but Poncho is food-motivated and eager to please. He typically doesn’t react negatively to dogs in passing but hasn’t been formally tested with dogs or cats, and his playful energy might overwhelm cats. Poncho’s previous life left gaps, but now he’s ready for a patient home that can offer him continued training, comfort, and closeness. The effort you put into him will be repaid with endless laughs, huge affection, and an ever-happy companion who lives to make you smile. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
