About Zero
Chicken Wing is a young mixed-breed dog who was brought to ACCT Philly as a stray after being found at Hunting Park and 9th Street. The finder reported that he was friendly, calm with strangers, and did well meeting a small dog in the home. With no known owner information, Chicken Wing was taken in so he could be kept safe and given the chance to find a home. Since arriving at the shelter, Chicken Wing has shown himself to be a sweet, affectionate, and people-oriented boy. He approaches staff with soft eyes and a wiggly body, eagerly soliciting attention and pets. While he can show some mild uncertainty when hands first reach toward him, he quickly re-approaches for affection and enjoys close contact, often nestling his head into his handler. On leash, he is generally easy to manage, enjoys sniffing, and shows little interest in other dogs while walking through the kennels. He can pull at times toward exciting sights or the exit, but he responds well to direction changes. Overall, Chicken Wing is a loving, gentle dog who is still settling into the shelter environment and is expected to continue gaining confidence with more time and positive experiences. Behavioral Notes 01/15/2026 per volunteer behavioral eval: Kennel Presentation: Chicken Wing approached the kennel door with soft eyes, a loose wiggly body, and a high fast wagging tail. He accepted treats that were offered with all four paws on the ground. He allowed me to open the kennel door and leash him fairly easily. Leash Skills: Chicken Wing walked through the kennels easily, stopping to sniff at the treat station and showed little interest in other dogs that we passed along our way out of the kennels. He did occasionally pull hard towards the exit or towards objects he was interested in, and would otherwise walk with moderate leash pressure. He followed direction changes as needed and was easy to direct in and out of the yard gates. Sociability: Chicken Wing was very interested in his handler and would quickly solicit pets from both his handler and other humans he encountered. At times he did recoil when a hand was reached out to pet him, and would slink his body low to the ground, before reapproaching for affection. He allowed handling all over his head, body, and legs, and would nestle his head into his handler's body frequently. Play: Chicken Wing did not show signs of interest in playing with soft toys or balls that were tossed for him. He did show minor interest in running play with his handler. Dog Interaction: Did not do. Return to Kennel: Easy return to kennel, no issues entering the kennel or removing leash. Color Level: Experienced Gold for hard pulling and some fearfulness Recommendations and considerations: Re-evaluate in a few days after he's had a little more socialization with staff and volunteers, probably can go down to just Gold quickly. Per volunteer 1/15: I tagged along for Chicken Wing's evaluation to snag some pictures. What an absolute delight!!! He has the softest head and is such a loving boy Medical Notes Weight: 44 lbs Date: 01/13/2026 Vaccination History Bordetella (Kennel Cough), Adenovirus, Parainfluenza 01/13/2026 - Completed DHPP 01/13/2026 - Completed Rabies 01/13/2026 - Completed Physical Exam History Tech Exam: Intake - Medical 01/13/2026 | 1:59 pm - Completed Exam Reason: Needs Initial Exam Weight: 44 lbs Body Condition Score: 5 - Ideal Assessment Microchip Found? placed here Microchip entered on profile? yes Found Chip placed on hold?
