3–4-year-old Akita | ~105 lbs | Sampson is a big, beautiful Akita boy who recently found his way to our shelter through no fault of his own. His owner was unfortunately hospitalized and, heartbreakingly, was unable to reclaim him. Now Sampson is hoping for a fresh start with an experienced, understanding forever family 💙 This handsome guy weighs about 105 lbs and has been doing *remarkably* well at the shelter—though, like many dogs, the kennel environment is understandably stressful for him. Even so, Sampson has shown us just how sweet, social, and goofy he truly is. He’s playful, people-friendly, and has a wonderful personality that shines once he feels comfortable. **What we know about Sampson:** Knows his basics: crate trained, knows sit, down, and paw No known behavioral issues per his previous owner Rides well in the car Friendly and enjoys being around people Can be strong and may jump up when excited (big boy energy!) Previously lived with other dogs- though we are dog testing further at the shelter No experience with cats No experience living with or around young children Because of his size, strength, and breed traits, we are looking for **Akita-experienced adopters** (or those with strong large-breed/guardian-breed experience) who understand the breed’s needs, structure, and loyalty. Additionally a home with kids 14 and up as he has not had experience with young kids before Sampson is a loving, playful, goofy soul who deserves stability, patience, and a home that truly *gets* him.
