Danny, an assumed Lab/Shepherd mix who is approximately 1.5 years old and full of life. This handsome, goofy boy came to us as a transfer from Centralia PD after being found as a stray. Despite his uncertain start, Danny has shown us just how resilient and eager to connect he truly is. Danny is a young, active dog who is still working on his manners, but he is incredibly smart and a quick learner. He is very treat- and food-motivated and genuinely wants to please, making him a great candidate for continued training. Because Danny didn't always have a reliable or consistent routine early on, he can get very excited when people come to see him-especially in the mornings or after his foster mom has been away for the day. When his excitement takes over, he may forget his manners and greet you by jumping up to try to lick your face and give hugs. His enthusiasm comes from pure happiness and his love for people, and with guidance and consistency, this is something he can continue to improve on. Danny kennels nicely and keeps his kennel clean both overnight and during the day. He absolutely loves filled bones and stuffed Kongs, which help keep him busy and engaged. He is also working on his leash manners. While he does have a tendency to pull, he is making steady progress and will quickly understand expectations with continued training and structure. When it comes to other dogs, Danny is very excited to meet them and sometimes needs reminders about appropriate interactions. We are hopeful that his upcoming neuter appointment will help with this. With the right match and similar playful energy, Danny would enjoy having a dog friend in the home. He may still be a bit too rambunctious for most small dogs, but he hasn't shown much interest in the puppies in his foster home. Overall, Danny is a young, goofy, affectionate boy who will make an amazing companion for someone willing to continue his training and who doesn't mind his joyful, over-the-top greetings.
