About Shasta

Shasta is a striking senior cat, around ten years old, who has spent the last several years in foster care waiting for a true home. She’s in great health and has had all her vet care kept up. Shasta’s story is unique: she was found outside, already declawed, and the botched procedure left her with lasting pain in three toes. Because of what she’s been through, Shasta isn’t much of a cuddler, and she’ll let you know if you cross her boundaries—sometimes with a firm bite. That said, she’s still a sweet and fun companion, full of quirky charm. She especially adores her scratch pad; it seems to bring her a lot of comfort. With daily pain medication, Shasta has started allowing gentle petting and some touches, something that wasn’t possible for her before. Pain management will stay important for her quality of life. She lives easily alongside other cats, showing no interest in close bonds but getting along fine. Shasta is currently sporting a lion cut for her long fur, which helps her avoid hairballs and lets her feel more comfortable. Her fosters are committed to finding her a proper home, so they’re even open to a foster-to-adopt trial to make sure it’s a good fit. Every animal deserves comfort and a soft landing at this stage of life. Click apply to start the adoption process.
