About Ryan
What are you waiting for? Apply today! Ryan is a delightful, one-of-a-kind companion whose quirky charms make every day more joyful. This 5-year-old, large retriever mix weighs in at 60 pounds and brings a unique spirit to any home. Having survived an incident as a newborn, Ryan lives with neurological differences that impact his short-term memory. Imagine every walk as a brand-new adventure—Ryan finds wonder in the familiar, greeting each day with infectious enthusiasm and delight. He’s smart and eager to learn, especially when treats are involved, and knows his basic commands well. Playful and affectionate, Ryan loves romping around the yard, chasing new scents, and then retreating to his crate—his safe and cozy space—whenever he needs a break. Ryan is fully housebroken, crate trained, and thrives on routine, becoming a loving shadow who enjoys cuddling up with his people. His devotion never resets, even if little details sometimes do. Given his neurological condition, Ryan sometimes misreads other dogs’ signals and has some resource guarding tendencies, especially with food, toys, and personal space. He also gets overstimulated easily and would do best in a calm, predictable, child- and pet-free home. If another dog is present, it must be an exceptionally gentle match that understands Ryan’s need for boundaries. He’s sensitive to touch and handles the world his own way, but when in the right environment, he is endlessly affectionate and a genuinely easygoing companion. Ryan is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and his routine-loving, affectionate nature makes him a wonderful companion for adults. Give him the love and stability he deserves—you’ll be rewarded with loyalty and heartwarming moments every day. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
