About Dakota
Say hello to Dakota. We don’t know exactly what Dakota’s life looked like before rescue, but we do know he was dumped and abandoned on the street. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan stepped in and gave him a chance at something better. Dakota is now in foster care and getting a real opportunity to settle into life, routine, and safety. Dakota is very much a husky—smart, vocal, athletic, and curious about the world around him. He’s currently living in a husky-experienced foster home where he’s thriving on long walks around the neighborhood. Casual strolls are not his thing. Dakota likes to move, explore, and keep things interesting, with lots of changes in pace and direction. His foster lovingly calls him “Ziggy Stardust” because he brings bursts of energy followed by very content breaks in the shade. He’s alert and engaged on walks and likes to take in everything happening around him. At home, he’s become increasingly playful and confident, especially with his husky foster sister, Sunshine. What started as a few squeaks has turned into full husky conversations, and it’s been fun to watch his personality come out more every day. With people, Dakota is affectionate, goofy, and loving. He gives lots of kisses, happily dives into laps, and seeks reassurance from his humans. He also loves to “den,” burying his face into couches or pillows until he pops back up for air. And when it’s time to rest, he really rests—Dakota settles well and sleeps soundly at night. Dakota will do best in an active, husky-savvy home that understands the breed and enjoys being out and about. He would love a home with other dogs and space to move and explore. Because of his size and animated play style, we’re recommending a home with middle school–aged children and up. Dakota is a social, affectionate, high-energy guy who brings a lot of personality and heart with him. He’s learning, growing, and showing more of who he is every day.
