About Murphy

Murphy is a four-year-old golden Labrador Retriever in Indianapolis, IN with a big heart and just as big a love for playtime. If you've got a tennis ball, rope toy, or a sturdy chew, you’re ready for hours of fetch and tug with Murphy, especially if water is involved—kiddie pools are his idea of paradise on a warm day. Though athletic and always up for a new adventure, Murphy never chews what he shouldn’t and prefers his toys tough to match his energy. Food motivates him, but he’s well-mannered around people’s meals: happy to handle the crumbs, but never pushy at the table. He’s a quick study, eager to please, crate-trained, and knows plenty of commands. Murphy enjoys lounging as much as leaping, especially if pets and a morning cuddle session are on the agenda. He’s great with other dogs after a friendly introduction, and he’s played happily with three at once. He’s likely to do best in a home with older children since he’s skittish with new people and sometimes sounds feisty until he acclimates—treats tend to help him warm up. While he’s lived with cats peacefully, his prey drive kicks in for small critters outdoors. Leash manners are a work in progress, and his foster thinks he’d excel at agility. If you’re looking for a playful, loyal, and smart companion who learns fast and would thrive in an active home, Murphy could be the right fit. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
