Oliver, our guest in board and train here at the Sanctuary, arrived just a few days ago. He's an adorable boy, and we're taking a few days to get to know him. Sadly, Oliver has gone through some traumatic events recently. His owner died suddenly and unexpectedly at a park with Oliver by his side; Oliver was left there and had to be retrieved later. Then, because dead raccoons were also found in the park, Oliver was required to serve a bite/rabies quarantine, even though he did not injure anyone. Oliver was his owner’s whole world, and the family is now working with the Manhattan shelter to help find him an appropriate placement and new home. After quarantine, Oliver moved through several locations in about 1–2 weeks. He is now with The Pet Connection, so he can decompress and get consistent handling. We know that Oliver is a sweet, gentle boy who loves his people. He enjoys taking walks and is reportedly good on leash. He would do best in a calm, adult home with no cats and no puppies. We also know that Oliver is part gazelle and can jump a short fence, so if your fence is only 4' tall, you'll need to walk him on leash for sure.
