About Oreo

Oreo is gentle, resilient, and heartbreakingly devoted — the kind of dog whose story is written quietly in the way she watches, waits, and hopes. She carries herself with a soft caution, always reading the room before she moves, as if learning whether this moment, this person, is safe. Oreo was found wandering the streets late at night with what we believe was her baby. When help finally came, she didn’t run or resist — she climbed straight into her finder’s car, choosing trust in a moment when she had every reason not to. Her body shows the signs of multiple litters, and while she is slowly learning that kindness can be consistent, she still shudders with certain human interactions. It is believed Oreo experienced abuse before she was found — and yet, she still chooses connection. Estimated to be around 3-4 years old, Oreo is a mature adult who longs for stability and safety. She is friendly at heart but cautious at first, needing time, patience, and predictability to feel secure. Once trust is earned, her affection is deeply meaningful — she enjoys hand-feeding, seeks out gentle attention, and forms strong, loyal bonds with the people who respect her pace. Oreo thrives in a calm, quiet, and structured environment. She has not been exposed to children and would do best in an adult-only home or with older, dog-savvy teens who understand boundaries. She can be sensitive to certain types of touch, but with consistency and reassurance, she continues to make progress — learning that hands can comfort, not hurt. When it comes to other animals, Oreo is happiest as the only dog. She does not enjoy meeting new dogs, prefers human companionship, and can become overwhelmed in multi-dog environments. She also has a high prey drive and is not suitable for homes with cats or small animals. Oreo truly shines when she doesn’t have to compete for attention — when she can finally be someone’s priority. Oreo is still learning skills like leash walking and potty training, and she will need an experienced, compassionate adopter who understands behavior modification, trauma-informed care, and positive, structured training. She isn’t difficult — she’s healing. And she deserves someone willing to walk beside her as she continues to find her footing. Quietly brave, deeply loving, and profoundly deserving, Oreo isn’t looking for perfection. She’s looking for peace. For the right person, the bond she offers is rare, powerful, and life-changing. +++++++ ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://petsave.formstack.com/forms/petsave_adoption_application +++++++ Oreo is currently in foster care in Texas and will be transported to her approved adoptive family. +++++++ The Truth About Rescue: Some dogs survive by shutting down. Others survive by loving anyway. Oreo did both. Adoption isn’t about erasing the past — it’s about rewriting the future. It’s about showing a dog who’s been used, overlooked, and hurt that her life now belongs to her. That she is safe. That she is wanted. That she is finally home. +++++++ Once we receive your application, our team will review it and reach out to set up an interview with one of our volunteers. If you have any questions, please email SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com . Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both pets and families.
