About Dexter
Click apply to start the adoption process. Dexter is a six-year-old, 66-pound boxer mix whose whole body becomes a happy dance the second he sees his people. His energy is contagious, and he's always ready to make you laugh with his goofy antics and boundless affection. Dexter is what you'd call a professional lap dog in a linebacker body. He thrives on closeness and loves cuddling as much as physically possible, generously doling out kisses as his signature move. Although his demeanor is gentle, he sometimes forgets he's a big guy—because of this, he's best suited for homes with dogs his own size and older children. That way, everyone can share in his love safely! Fully house trained and not much of a barker, Dexter relishes outdoor play and has a zest for life that defies his age. When left alone, he should be crated—he’s a sneaky snack sleuth with an advanced degree in counter surfing and can open cabinets to grab treats. While Dexter doesn't mind sharing water bowls and most toys, he does take guarding his favorite treasures seriously, so high-value treats are best enjoyed in his crate. With his larger-than-life personality, wild affection, and hilarious exploits, Dexter is ready to bring joy and laughter to his forever home. He is neutered, current on vaccinations and preventatives, and microchipped. All adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad Cities, and any pets in the home should be up to date on shots, prevention, and altered. The rescue is not a public shelter, so meet and greets are scheduled by appointment. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
