About Barkley
Barkley is a ten-year-old, 83-pound Labrador Retriever mix who walks into a room and makes it brighter. Despite his name, this old soul rarely makes a peep. Instead, expect big affection, curiosity, and a playful streak. He’s got a goofy side that comes out around treats—he’ll wiggle, hop, or impress you with his treat-catching skills. His energy may surprise you for a senior, and he approaches each day with youthful gusto, especially when it comes to chew toys and whatever adventure you suggest next. Barkley gets along famously with other dogs and is polite at the dog park, happy to be part of the scene but never pushy. He’s a quick learner, already fluent in commands like “sit,” “down,” “off,” “paw,” and “c'mon-up.” He’s house trained and crate trained, settling in quietly for several hours if needed. These days he’s working on his leash manners with a new harness that helps curb his pulling and makes walks smoother. This is a dog who will make you laugh, keep you active, and offer the kind of loyal, affectionate companionship you can only get from a senior with a young heart. His rescue was made possible thanks to a special senior sponsorship honoring another beloved rescue dog. Ready for a new sidekick? Click apply to start the adoption process.
