Meet Reggie! Reggie is a 4–5-year-old, 14-pound Shih Tzu with a heart as big as his personality. This charming, cuddly boy was adopted from our rescue a little over two years ago and lived a very loved life with his owner until tragedy struck—his owner became terminally ill and could no longer care for him. Through no fault of his own, Reggie has found his way back to us and is now adjusting to foster life once again. It took him a little time to readjust, but Reggie has made wonderful progress. He currently lives peacefully with a cat and another low-energy dog. While he’s curious about his feline roommate, he mostly keeps to himself and prefers calm, gentle company. Reggie does best with smaller, low-energy dogs like himself—or would be perfectly happy as your one and only. Once trust is established, Reggie’s affectionate side truly shines. He loves cuddles, kisses, and staying close to his favorite people. His mornings start with happy tail wags and snuggles before breakfast or a walk—he genuinely wakes up joyful every day. When he’s not soaking up attention, you’ll find him lounging on the couch, relaxing in his pen (his safe space), or snuggled into his favorite blanket. Reggie is food-motivated, loves treats, and has a silly streak—he’ll even play with his food bowl once he’s finished eating! He is nearly fully housebroken with only minimal accidents and happily sleeps in his pen overnight to help maintain a consistent potty routine. Reggie is a sensitive soul who just needs patience and understanding to feel safe. He prefers to approach new people on his own terms and let his curiosity lead the way. Sudden movements or reaching out too quickly can make him nervous, and he may growl or snap if he feels cornered. With slow, gentle interactions, his sweet and loving personality emerges quickly. Reggie’s ideal home would be calm and patient, with no children, and adopters who have experience with small dogs—or who are willing to give him the time he needs to warm up. A fenced yard would be a bonus, but Reggie has proven that apartment living suits him just fine. Reggie has been through a lot, but his heart is full of love waiting to be shared. He deserves a forever home that will give him the stability, understanding, and affection he’s been missing.
