Pico has spent several months in foster care, and it didnât take long to figure out he needs a distinctly patient person. When Pico arrived, he was so timid and wary around people that the priority had to be slow, steady trust-buildingânot a fast track into a new home. If you want a dog that mostly keeps to himself, enjoys peace and sun spots, and operates on cat energy, Pico could be the right fit. He came out of a hoarding situation and was overwhelmed at first. On his initial day in foster care, even letting him off leash turned into a small recovery missionâhis fear ran that deep. Time and daily gentle love have made a difference. Pico now finds his safe places, and if you give him the respect of going at his pace, he blossoms. Heâs dog- and cat-friendly. Heâs fine with older kids who are calm and understand personal space, but young children are probably not a fit. He does all right on leash with patience, and heâs quiet, independent, and easily overlooked unless youâre tuned in to his quiet sweetness. This is not a dog who will immediately bond or shower you with affection on day one. But put the time inâshow Pico youâre trustworthyâand heâll surprise you. Once he feels safe, heâll seek out attention, give gentle kisses, and display loyalty in the smallest ways. Pico is about 2 years old, neutered, vaccinated, and weighs around 15 pounds.
