On his initial day in foster care, even letting him off leash turned into a small recovery mission—his fear ran that deep. Time and daily gentle love have made a difference. Pico now finds his safe places, and if you give him the respect of going at his pace, he blossoms. He’s dog- and cat-friendly. He’s fine with older kids who are calm and understand personal space, but young children are probably not a fit. He does all right on leash with patience, and he’s quiet, independent, and easily overlooked unless you’re tuned in to his quiet sweetness. This is not a dog who will immediately bond or shower you with affection on day one. But put the time in—show Pico you’re trustworthy—and he’ll surprise you. Once he feels safe, he’ll seek out attention, give gentle kisses, and display loyalty in the smallest ways. Pico is about 2 years old, neutered, vaccinated, and weighs around 15 pounds.
