About Erika

Erika is a three-year-old Doberman with a mix of brains and beauty. Her early life was tough; she came to rescue after being surrendered with serious injuries from being hit by a car and suffering neglect. Despite a broken tibia, damaged teeth, and being heartworm positive, Erika is energetic and refuses to let any of it dull her spirit. Her strength, determination, and charm have earned her the title of 'favorite dog' at her vet clinic. Erika’s heartworm treatment is ongoing, so she’s on crate rest, but she stays upbeat, loving short leash walks and excelling at scent work and puzzle toys. She’s a true foodie with a punctual inner clock—expect dancing around mealtime. Erika adores affection, giving trust falls into laps and snuggling up close, especially when there are butt scratches involved. She displays the classic Doberman lean and enjoys being around people but is independent as well. Erika can break out of crates and will need a secure home with a 6-foot physical fence. She needs joint supplements and monitoring for early arthritis and will be on heartworm preventative for life. She does best as an only dog, does not get along with cats or small animals, and needs a family experienced with Doberman temperament—someone who’ll keep her body and mind busy and safe. Visits with Erika are in Minneapolis, MN, and qualified adopters should be ready to meet her in person. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
