About Misti

Misti is a 3-year-old, 45-lb retriever-type mix who made her way from the Bahamas and quickly won everyone over. Arriving bright and alert, she put aside early expectations of shyness or frailty and proved how adaptable and eager she is to learn. With a knack for picking up commands—she had "paw" down in just three tries—Misti excelled in professional obedience training and now handles sit, down, heel, recall, and more with confidence. Friendly and social, Misti loves attention and actively seeks out interaction with both guests and family. She’s athletic and thrives when she’s engaged, whether that’s with fetch, tug, hikes, or walks. Misti needs a home where her energy is matched by an active routine and a steady structure—she blossoms in an environment with clear expectations. Families with older kids and teens (16+) are a better fit given her exuberance. Due to her high prey drive, she’s not suited for homes with cats or small dogs but does well with other playful, appropriately matched dogs, especially male companions. Now living with a professional trainer in foster, Misti keeps honing her manners and training foundation and will bring her prong collar as a starter kit for her future home. For anyone looking for an athletic, brainy, well-trained partner who’s eager for a bond and a lot of activity, Misti is ready for the next step. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Misti and similar Labrador Retriever mixes benefit from having a yard or easy access to walking trails and parks. She needs enough space for regular exercise and play.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Labrador Retriever/mixed breed dogs are generally good with children, but given Misti's energy, she is best suited for homes with older kids or teens rather than small children.
Is this breed usually better for first-time or experienced owners?
While Labrador retriever mixes can adapt to various experience levels, Misti’s athleticism and need for structure will be easier for an owner with some dog experience.
Does this breed typically get along with dogs?
