About Flynn

Click apply to start the adoption process. Flynn is a striking red merle, rough-coated border collie with a mysterious past and plenty of personality. He arrived at his foster home wary of humans and very driven by instinct, especially his prey drive, resulting in repeated escape attempts and little interest in food or toys. Since then, he has gradually warmed up to people and now shows affection to his foster family, even enjoying attention from strangers and children while out on walks. His extreme prey drive means he must be supervised outdoors at all times, and he is a true specialist at finding ways to squeeze through the tiniest openings if he senses prey. Flynn cannot be trusted with cats or small animals and would do best in a single-dog home, though he can coexist with some dogs after careful introductions. He is extremely sensitive to sounds, with thunderstorms and gunshots causing severe panic and destructive anxiety, which is managed with medication. Flynn's escapist tendencies and heightened senses make him best suited for adopters with extensive border collie or similar breed experience who are prepared to manage him safely, likely with a leash or additional supervision for a long period. While his independence and challenges are significant, Flynn's growing bond with humans and his intelligence give him great potential—he may excel in dog sports, especially nosework, and would thrive with a home able to provide an active job or outlet for his energy. He is being fostered in Cedar Grove, NC, and homes with any type of electric fencing will not be considered for his placement. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
