Thatcher was found living in a boiler room, yet despite whatever this sweet boy endured, he greeted everyone with friendliness right from the start. His gentle, trusting nature has been evident since day one, and it’s impossible not to admire his resilience. A big, soft cloud of a cat with an easygoing spirit, Thatcher loves stretching out in cozy spots, watching the world go by between naps, and joining in for playtime when the mood strikes. He enjoys food, gentle affection, and the company of his fellow FELV+ friends, but he could also be perfectly happy as an only cat in a home that appreciates a laid-back companion with occasional bursts of silly energy. Calm, affectionate, and endlessly lovable, Thatcher is ready to bring comfort and quiet joy to the lucky home that chooses him. He can be a bit cautious, so a home with older children or adults only would be ideal for him. Thatcher is FeLV positive, but he is energetic and healthy. Because FeLV is a virus that weakens a cat's immune system, FeLV+ cats may have shorter life-spans, but cats like Thatcher who are diagnosed as an adult can live to be 10-15 years old. This virus cannot be transmitted to people, dogs or other non-feline animals, but can be transmitted to other cats via shared water and food dishes and grooming each other.
