About Imelda

Click apply to start the adoption process. Say hello to Imelda, a sweet senior Pug recently rescued and now safe with PugHearts the Houston Pug Rescue. Imelda arrived in heartbreaking condition, her tiny body covered in scabs and raw, itchy wounds from prolonged skin issues. Bathing and gentle care were new experiences for her, but she now finds some comfort and protection in soft pajamas to prevent further harm. Despite everything she has endured, there is a beautiful glimmer of hope as her caregivers watch her begin to experience love and safety for perhaps the first time. Imelda is estimated to be around 12 years old and has suffered from untreated demodex for quite some time. Unfortunately, she also shows signs of severe dental disease—likely requiring major dental care—alongside other ongoing medical and comfort needs. It's believed she was used for breeding and endured a life of neglect, but her rescuers are dedicated to providing her with the medical and emotional healing she deserves. With continued love and the right home, Imelda's true personality will emerge, and she will finally discover the kind of life every dog deserves. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
