About Stanley

Stanley is an affectionate, loyal, and playful young dog who has already weathered more than most. After arriving extremely sick and undergoing treatment for Valley Fever, he has held onto his loving nature and continues to improve each day. Stanley takes medication twice daily, and although he tires out a bit faster than other dogs his age, he still enjoys romping around, short play sessions, and quiet time with his people. This dog is happiest curled up next to someone on the couch or snoozing at your feet as you work. He thrives in calm homes where he can feel secure, and though he may be cautious with men or in new situations, patience and space help him open up. Once comfortable, he is a tremendous cuddler who builds deep bonds with the people in his life. Stanley gets along with other dogs and loves to wrestle but sometimes misses when older dogs need a break. He shows no food aggression and eats peacefully with other dogs. Due to a past incident, he should not live with cats. He’s gentle with kids—timid at first, but tolerant when handled. In foster care, he’s allowed gentle people to handle his paws, ears, and mouth without fuss. Stanley is mostly house-trained, crate-trained, and happily settles in a kennel or out in the home at night. Still young, he may chew if unsupervised, so routine and structure will set him up for success. He knows “sit” and patiently waits for his meals while still working on commands like “stay” and “drop it.” Squeaky toys, stuffed animals, and a good zoom around the yard make his day. Stanley also rides calmly in the car, usually settling in without trouble. What he needs now is a patient, loving adopter who will continue his stability and confidence as he recovers.
