Colin I’m finally starting to settle into shelter life. When I first came in, I was pretty scared — everything was new and loud and confusing. But I’m learning that there are kind people here, and now when I go out for walks, I have to stop by the toy bin first. I always grab myself a ball (a guy’s gotta have priorities, right?). These volunteers are really in the Christmas spirit. Somehow that turned into me wearing this crazy hat… I don’t really understand it, but I sat still for the picture because I don’t think they were going to let me go without one. I’m a mid-aged pup, maybe 4–5 years old, about 40 pounds, and just a little fellow. I enjoy walks, keep my kennel clean, and I’m a polite boy. I can be timid when we first meet, but give me a little time and I’ll show you my sweet side. I’ve got some skin issues that are healing up nicely, and I’m feeling better every day. I don’t mind other dogs when we pass by them, cats are unknown, and I’d do best with older, respectful kids. Oh — and if you have Jolly balls? I love those. They’re my favorite. There are a lot of dogs here, and I hear people talking about how maybe someday it will be my turn .. I sure hope that someone chooses me. What I want most for Christmas is a home of my own — a warm place, a soft bed, and someone who understands that sometimes the best dogs just need a little patience and a lot of love.
