About Jerry

Jerry’s story hasn’t been easy, but he’s never let any of it dim his spirit. Dumped in a Texas field at just seven months old, paralyzed from a bullet in his spine, Jerry was lucky enough to find help—though at first it was just more heartbreak, surviving neglect at the hands of a hoarder masquerading as a special needs rescue. When he finally landed with people who truly cared, everything changed. Jerry’s been with his current rescue for two years, working on his strength and relearning confidence. He may never walk fully on his own, but he’s grown stronger and mastered his wheels—he’s at his happiest spinning out fast on open ground. You won’t find a more dedicated or happier dog. He’s about 40 lbs, short-coated, and always looking for the next adventure. He requires some special care: his bladder needs expressing three to four times daily, and there’s a quick poop schedule to follow. His feet need wrapping to prevent scrapes, and daily liquid supplements are essential for his health. These routines are simple once learned, and Jerry makes it all worthwhile with his constant joy. Jerry gets along well with other dogs, though he’s slow to trust people at first. Once he bonds, it’s for life. He’s off-leash trained, loves to hike, and has a strong prey drive—so he needs a home without cats. If you’re ready for an adventure companion who gives everything back, Jerry might be your guy.
