About Maple
Maple’s story started on the streets of Mexico, where she caught the eye of a young man on his way home. Drawn by her gentle determination, she waited hours outside his door—patient, loyal, and hopeful. After rescue, Maple was in rough shape: thin, with itchy skin and fur missing. With love and care in a Mexican foster home, she became a totally different dog. Her sleek coat grew back, energy returned, and her playful, affectionate side bloomed. Now, she craves toys, fetch, tug-of-war, and the company of people. Her athleticism shines when she’s romping with other dogs or chasing after a ball, but she also settles easily when playtime’s done. Maple bonds fiercely—she sticks close and wants to be where you are, yet she’s not needy or anxious about it. She learns quickly, especially when training is consistent and kind. Already, she answers to her name and happily sits for you. She loves kids who respect her space and gets along with other dogs. Cats, however, make her nervous, so she’d prefer a feline-free home. Maple’s ideal adopter enjoys an active lifestyle or has a yard; she adapts to most loving homes as long as she gets enough exercise and play. She could thrive as your only dog or enjoy a canine sibling. Now waiting for her own family in Sherwood, OR, Maple is spayed, healthy, house trained, and up to date on vaccines. Adoption includes her flight from Mexico to Portland after approval—her journey to a forever home is just a decision away. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
