About Max

They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now! Max has waited 11 months in foster care, hoping his forever family will finally find him. This soulful, sensitive, 75-pound "house hippo" survived harsh neglect and a difficult start to life but has blossomed into a loving, gentle companion. While he loves everyone he meets, loud voices or fast movements can make him flinch—testaments to his resilient spirit and enduring love. Max has a nerve injury in his back that causes his legs to sometimes shake. He visits a doggy chiropractor 1–2 times a month, which future adopters should be willing to continue to support his well-being. Despite his challenges, Max gleefully greets his trips to the vet and is a staff favorite thanks to his smile and his signature wiggle. A true couch potato at heart, Max thrives in a relaxed, low-key home. If your weekend plans involve sleeping in, snacks, and binge-watching shows, he’s the perfect companion! Crate-free and house trained, Max is content lounging in comfort and keeping your place warm until you return from work. He knows basic commands, never gets into trouble, and is happiest just hanging out with his favorite people. Easygoing on a leash, Max enjoys slow strolls and even the occasional car ride for ice cream. Max is dog-friendly on walks but must be the only pet in his home, as he prefers his space (and snacks) all to himself. He also needs a child-free environment, so this is truly his chance to enjoy being the pampered "kid" of the family. Max is ideal for singles, couples without children, or anyone hoping for a low-maintenance, affectionate best friend. All he asks for is a comfy couch, regular chiropractic care, and your love—he’ll return it in spades. As a Virgo, Max is attentive, eager to please, and finds joy in the simple routines of daily life. Help Max celebrate his next foster anniversary with a meet-and-greet and give him the loving home he’s been waiting for! Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
