About Jaya
Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you. Meet Jaya, a true survivor looking for an equally special home. After a hard life in Detroit spent raising litter after litter, Jaya faced even more challenges when she was hit by a car several years ago, resulting in lifelong neurological and mobility issues. Though her walk can be a bit wonky and she’ll do best in a home without stairs, her joyful spirit truly shines through—her zest for life and sweet personality aren't held back one bit! Jaya is 11 years young and weighs about 50 lbs. She is wonderfully dog friendly and thrives alongside canine companions, so her forever home should have other dogs. Jaya’s character sparkles with a unique blend of sweetness, sass, and resilience. She’s a loving, opinionated “grandma dog” with an irresistible determination and boundless affection. Jaya’s story and spirit will inspire you every day, offering countless lessons in love, tenacity, and finding joy, no matter the circumstances. To keep her comfortable, Jaya currently visits the vet weekly in Troy for treatments that bring her tremendous relief. As her care progresses, these visits are expected to become less frequent. Jaya needs an adopter who will be her advocate and flexibility to help her manage her special needs as she continues to enjoy her golden years. No prior experience with mobility-challenged dogs is required—just patience and an open heart willing to go with the flow. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
