Goldie is a young, small Yorkshire Terrier mix with a short coat who is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She weighs about 7 pounds and is currently not house trained. Goldie has special needs due to paralysis in her back legs and uses a diaper but adjusts well to her situation. She’s currently located in Winsted, CT.

About Goldie

Meet Goldie! She’s a tiny Yorkie of about 7 pounds, just three years old and saved from euthanasia. Goldie can’t use her back legs—no one knows what happened—but she’s adapted quickly. She scoots around just fine and is great in her little wheelchair. While she doesn’t have control over her bladder or bowels, she does go on her own and is very used to wearing a diaper. Her size makes care manageable, and she doesn’t let her challenges slow her down. Goldie has a vet visit coming up so her long-term care plan can be worked out, but for now she’s just looking for someone who can give her a safe, loving home or maybe a foster spot. Goldie’s gentle presence will reward patience and compassion tenfold. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Goldie

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Yorkshire Terriers like Goldie do best in homes where they can be close to their people, whether that's an apartment or a house. Because of her special needs, a few accessible areas and a safe indoor space are important for her well-being.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Goldie, as a Yorkshire Terrier mix, doesn't require a large outdoor area but will need a safe spot for fresh air and sun. Her mobility challenges make a flat, secure space ideal for supervised outdoor time.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Yorkshire Terriers can be gentle and affectionate, but because of Goldie’s paralysis and size, a home with gentle, calm children who respect her limitations would be best.
