About Darla
Think you are the one? Submit an application! Darla is a sweetheart ready for her forever home after having a rough start in life. This friendly, yet reserved, young lady is thriving in her DC foster home and absolutely loves being around people and other pups. You'll often find her eagerly playing at the dog park, where she enjoys polite play with canine friends—though she's a bit cautious around large, boisterous dogs and prefers to hang out with her trusted person in those moments. Darla is very sweet around visitors, including children, but since she can be a bit nervous with loud noises and lots of activity, a quieter home without young kids would be ideal. If you like going on hikes or being active, Darla would love to join! This bright girl already knows her name, is learning to go in her crate, and picks up cues quickly—she’s truly smart and eager to learn even more. She’s still working on potty training and is comfortable staying in her crate overnight, but does get anxious if left alone for long periods. Darla thrives when her people are around and would love a home where someone is present often, or perhaps with another friendly dog to keep her company. Continuing her anxiety medication has been a gamechanger, and her rescue team will support you with her transition. Darla delights in toys, snuggles, exploring on walks, and would blossom with someone ready to offer a little extra TLC. Fun fact: with her birthday on March 16, Darla is a sweet and sensitive Pisces who’s sure to bring warmth into your life. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
