About Hot Chocolate
Hot Chocolate has been part of the rescue since he was just a baby. He’s always been a gentle, sweet dog with a real desire to connect, but he never got the full socialization and confidence-building he needed growing up. Originally adopted out as a puppy, he’s found himself back at the rescue now as a senior when his family couldn’t commit to his care anymore. Hot Chocolate is shy when new people meet him, but he’s searching for someone who will understand his longing for connection and help him grow. His loyalty runs deep—once he trusts you, he’s fiercely protective and will show endless love. He’s food motivated, quick to learn basics, and ready for the right person to help him catch up on the skills he missed. Hot Chocolate needs to be the only dog in an adult home while he works on his social skills. At eight years old, he’s looking for a quiet, stable home in Decatur, GA, with someone who sees his big heart and is ready for a rewarding challenge. As a fun fact, Hot Chocolate is a Libra—true to his sign, he’s searching for balance and connection with his person. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Hot Chocolate
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Hot Chocolate, being a Shepherd/Mixed Breed, generally does best in a calm home with space to relax, especially as he settles into his senior years. A quieter adult-focused environment would give him the structure he needs to build confidence.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
A large breed like Hot Chocolate appreciates a yard or regular access to substantial outdoor space for exercise and enrichment, but at his age, moderate outings in a secure area are most important.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Hot Chocolate needs an adult-only home at this time due to his need for confidence-building and predictable routines. Shepherd mixes can be great with kids, but in his case, a child-free environment is recommended.
