Weighing in at around 130 pounds, Isla can turn on a goofy burst of energy one minute, dashing about like a bull on the loose, and transform into a lap-draped cuddle magnet the next. She’s mastered the dramatic sigh, is quick with a head tilt, and makes her opinions well known—expect some vocal commentary if you stray from her line of sight. Isla’s journey from a Texas shelter has made her especially grateful for comfort and routine, and she thrives when surrounded by people who will give her plenty of attention. Completely housetrained, an excellent car passenger, and known for her nightly self-tuck-ins, Isla brings a lot of charm and plenty of quirks. She’s smart and stubborn, often deciding for herself when a walk is over by simply planting her extra-large body. Always on the lookout for dropped snacks, Isla is not destructive, but opportunistic—any food left within reach is fair game. She needs to be the only pet in her new home; Isla isn’t interested in sharing space with other animals, though she gets along famously with people, including kids who can respect her size and approach. Given her arthritis and mast cell tumor, daily medication helps keep her comfortable and ready for life’s little adventures around the yard.
