About Toast
Meet Toast, an eighteen-month-old Basenji mix with a personality as warm and inviting as his name. Toast’s story started rough—he was abandoned and left to fend for himself, but a compassionate family stepped in, giving him a second shot at happiness. He’s now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, crate trained, and housebroken. He takes quickly to leash walks and rides happily in the car. Basenjis are famous for their tidy, intelligent nature, and Toast goes a bit further—he’s particularly quiet, smart, and well-mannered. He’s loyal, affectionate, and especially enjoys the company of other dogs, preferring to follow rather than lead. Toast’s energy is high; daily walks and space to roam are essentials, regardless of yard size. Given his social needs, he must join a home with another friendly dog companion to truly thrive. He can be shy with new people at first, but with patience he comes around. Toast would do wonderfully in a household with children who are steady on their feet—he’ll be their best buddy and playmate. An active or semi-active family is a great fit, and he’s equally happy exploring or lounging nearby his people. Toast is the complete package: dog-social, gentle, quiet, and ready to pour his heart into a forever home. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
