At around eight years old, George has lived enough life to understand what matters: a steady hand, a soft voice, a couch that welcomes him like an old friend. His past wasn't kind, but you'd never know it from the way he greets the day - head high, tail gently wagging, forgiveness stitched into every step. He's 58 pounds of quiet poetry wrapped in fur - now neutered, heartworm negative, healthy, and utterly dignified in that way only a dog with history can be. George gets along beautifully with other dogs and regards cats with the gentle intrigue of a retired philosopher observing chaos and choosing peace. He's playful when the mood strikes - a wag here, a bounce there - but what he truly excels at is stillness. The art of simply being. He'll curl up beside you, sigh once, and in that small sound, you'll hear the whole story: the hurt that's been healed, the hope that's returned, the gratitude that hums quietly beneath his ribs. The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. ***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
