About Poe
What are you waiting for? Apply today! Meet Poe, a beautiful and lively four-year-old pit bull mix who's ready for her forever home! Happy, playful, and full of personality, Poe weighs about 60 pounds and thrives on fun and activity. She's an energetic girl who loves to play with all sorts of toys—tug of war, fetch, puzzle feeders, and stuffed kongs delight her, and she would be thrilled if you'd chase her around with a ball. Poe does well with other dogs, provided introductions are slow and thoughtful. As a "boss lady" at heart, she needs a canine companion who will gently set boundaries, particularly around toys and food, which she prefers not to share. While we don’t know how she’d react to cats, she hasn’t lived with them before. This fun-loving dog is a summer gal who enjoys warm weather, basking outdoors, and cozying up by a heat vent in the winter with a jacket. She meets new people happily and comes with a few essential commands, including sit and place, and she patiently waits for her food. Poe is also house trained and does well in a kennel or when left in safe, enclosed spaces while you're away. Poe does have environmental allergies requiring ongoing care such as medicated baths, Apoquel (her adopter will receive a 30-day supply), a salmon-based or prescription diet, omega-3 supplements, an OTC antihistamine, and probiotics. It is vital that her adopter is committed to this level of care so Poe remains healthy and happy. If you’re searching for a loving, joyful companion with a strong sense of self and a big heart, Poe could be your new best friend. Any adopter must be ready to provide ongoing veterinary care to manage her allergies, ensuring she never faces the hardships she did before rescue. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
