About Pyro

Hiya! Pyro is an energetic, affectionate pit bull/border collie mix who just turned 3 and a half. Originally rescued from a tough start in South Carolina, he’s now looking for someone who can give him time, patience, and space to thrive. Pyro loves other dogs and gets along with all kids—he really comes alive running and playing with canine friends outside. He’s never met a cat but has a big thing for chasing bunnies, so a cat-free home is probably best. With people, Pyro is loving and playful, though he can be wary when strangers visit the house and needs some time to warm up. Once he knows you, Pyro gets attached and likes to shadow his people everywhere. He has some anxiety, especially with new situations, but has been making progress. He’s still working on house training since his early years didn’t include those basics, so any adopter should be ready for ongoing help learning the ropes. A perfect fit for Pyro includes a big backyard and at least one other playful dog. He’s hoping for a family that’s around often and ready to let him blossom on his own timeline—maybe by his birthday, which makes him a Christmas Capricorn. Pyro is in foster in Sag Harbor, NY, and is waiting for someone ready to see how good a life together can be. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
