About Grandpa
Grandpa is a large Husky/Alaskan Malamute mix with a strong personality shaped by a tough past. He’s highly trained—sit, down, place, go to bed, come, go, wait, leave it, heel—you won’t need to worry about basics here. Grandpa isn’t destructive when left alone and sleeps by the door for much of the day, always alert yet pretty relaxed. Once the weather cools, he’ll happily spend his time outside and play with a ball in the evenings. He likes routine, enjoys belly rubs, and is mostly independent—he’ll come for a few pets but otherwise is content to just watch the world. Because he was previously attacked, Grandpa is very reactive toward other animals and must be the only pet in the house. He does not get along with cats or dogs, and is more suitable for a calm, slow-paced household. Most kids are fine, though Grandpa can take on a protective tone around visitors if children are present—something to be aware of in family settings. He takes glucosamine supplements, but is otherwise in good health. With patience, understanding, and outdoor time, Grandpa will make a loyal companion for the right home.
