About Grandpa

Start your journey together! Apply now. Grandpa is a previously rescued husky/Alaskan malamute mix who has come such a long way since his initial adoption. Thanks to his rigorous training, he's mastered a range of commands including sit, down, place (kennel), come, wait, leave it, and heel—and he's eager to keep learning. Grandpa is not destructive when left alone and typically spends his time lounging by the door, especially if someone rings the doorbell, which can trigger a reaction. When the weather is good, he absolutely loves spending his day outdoors, soaking up the sun, and in the evenings he unwinds with a bit of playful ball time. He is a true companion with low day-to-day needs, but because of a past trauma, Grandpa does need to be the only pet in his home. He gets along with most people and is good with children, but he can take a protective stance toward visitors when kids are around. A calm, slow-paced household is where Grandpa will truly thrive—he delights in belly rubs and a bit of affection when you’re home, but he’s also quite independent and content to simply observe the world. He does take glucosamine supplements but is otherwise healthy, and his previous experiences mean he’ll require an understanding adopter who appreciates what he’s been through. Give Grandpa the peaceful, loving environment he deserves, and he’ll reward you with loyal companionship. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
