About Carter

They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now! Meet Carter, a 3-4-year-old, approximately 70-pound, sweet and snuggly hound with all the spirit of a coonhound in one amazing pup! Carter is a unique blend of bluetick, redbone, treeing walker, and Plott hound, though he looks and sounds a bit like a bloodhound. If you're a coonhound enthusiast, Carter brings the best qualities of these breeds together in a playful and loving package. Carter does well with other dogs in public settings, but sometimes prefers to be the only dog at home, as he can guard his space. With his larger-than-life personality, he will easily become the center of attention! He is vaccinated, neutered, crate trained, and house trained. Carter thrives in an active home and enjoys a daily 30–40 minute walk to keep him happy and fit. His love for water is unmatched—even a small tub is an invitation for a quick splash! For his safety, Carter needs a 5-foot block wall or a 6-foot fenced yard. Carter enjoys children, but because of his size, he needs to be with older kids (12 or up). He is seeking a hound-savvy adopter who can provide both secure containment and plenty of affection. With Carter, you'll have a loyal companion who brings the fun wherever he goes! Make their next chapter their best one yet.
