Lady is a 5 year old Frenchie Pug mix that was surrendered to us because of divorce. She lived in a home with young children. She has been an only dog all her life. We have worked with her on interacting with other dogs, but she would do best in a home as an only pet. It has been quite a transition for after being picked up by a complete stranger and taken away from the only family she had known. We have given her lots of love and worked with her to help her adjust. I think we have learned all we can about her and the next step is for her to find a loving forever home of her own. She is your typical Frenchie but she has some quirks we have noticed over time. Here is what Lady needs in her new home: Fenced yard she can run and play in (no apt., condo or townhome applications will be proessed) Someone who works from home or stays home or is only gone 2-3 hours a day (she is used to someone being home most of the time) An owner that has experience with Frenchies She is assertive and needs someone who is comfortable with that She loves rides and walks well on a leash - however, Lady barks at and shows aggression toward other dogs while on leash She has gotten to like playing with other dogs here, but she requires supervision still. Sometimes she doesn't want to share a toy and will growl and nip at other dogs. She is obsessive of affection and will growl and nip at another dog if they intrude. We have worked with her extensively and she is doing much better and responds to light correction. She is food aggressive and should be fed in a crate or alone in a closed room if other dogs are present. She is good with cats and children. We recommend children 8 and older for the adoptive family. She shy and first and will take time to adjust, but once she is comfortable she is a sweet affectionate girl who loves being with and playing with her humans. Note: she does not like to be picked up and held. You can pick her up for brief moments to transport her but other than that she will wiggle and jump to get free. It took us some time to really figure her out so she will need a family that is patient, loving, and willing to work with her. Please Note: we will be very selective when considering an adopter. This particular dog has specific needs that need to be met and we will not compromise. Please take this into consideration when considering to apply.
