Meet this happy go lucky boy, Melvin who is a 3 year old Hound mix at 65 lbs. He was rescued from a very rural Louisiana Shelter and hit the ground with his hound nose sniffing, a boy on a mission. Hey there, I'm Melvin. I'm a loving boy looking for a forever family. I've had all my vaccinations, preventions, neutered, and heartworm treatment. I've been cleared by the vet, and now I'm waiting for my perfect home! High energy, very vocal when he needs to go out, come in or time to eat. I get along well with other dogs and have many friends including cats here at my foster moms house. I enjoy running around the yard, sniffing out all the smells, but I settle down quickly and enjoy my naps. I enjoy spending time with people and love head rubs. Melvin calms quickly after sniffing and enjoys relaxing in his kennel. I'm crate trained and have no problem waiting for you to return home to go potty. I know commands like come, sit, and kennel. I'm still learning not to pull on leash since I am so strong, but I'm doing much better, and I enjoy car rides. He is able to jump a 4 foot fence to chase wildlife, recommend 6 foot fence.
