About Ruben
Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Ruben is a handsome and gentle redbone hound with a soft and affectionate personality. At around 5 years old, he has never been used as a hunting dog due to his sensitive and loving nature. Ruben is a medium-sized dog, estimated at about 50 lbs, and sports a beautiful short, red and cream coat that makes him stand out. You can meet Ruben in person at the Rockbridge SPCA, where he awaits a loving home. He has tested negative for heartworm, and all adopted animals like Ruben are taken directly to a local veterinarian for spay or neuter surgeries. Out-of-area adoptions are possible, provided adopters can make multiple trips—please note, there are no exceptions to this policy, and animals are not held. Kittens and puppies must weigh at least 2 lbs. for surgery, and pediatric spays/neuters are limited to certain vets in the area. Rockbridge SPCA does not provide emotional support or service animals and does not adopt to college students, though volunteering opportunities are always available.
