S'mores is a male Corgi estimated to be between 2 and 3 years old, considered medium-sized and currently available through Remember Me Rescue NY. He is neutered and has up-to-date vaccinations. S'mores is playful, intelligent, and requires a patient, adult-only home with experience managing dogs with guarding issues. While he thrives with canine companions, he is not suited for households with cats. His lovable personality shines with the right leadership, and he will benefit from a secure environment and an adopter in the NY metropolitan area or nearby.

About Smores

This could be the start of something paw-some. S'mores is an exceptional dog who is looking for a very specific, highly dog-savvy home. While his adorable appearance may catch your attention, he is not a fit for first-time dog owners or those without experience handling dogs with guarding behaviors. Corgis naturally have a reputation for stubbornness and S'mores’ background has shaped him further. Having been abandoned and left outside in harsh conditions, he displayed defensive behavior initially, including being aggressive when approached and biting at the vet. With time, however, his personality has opened up—he's now eager for attention, enjoying belly rubs and interaction at adoption events. S'mores thrives around other dogs and loves to play, so a home with at least one canine companion (with an introduction required) is essential. He is approximately 2 to 3 years old and weighs 24 lbs, making him best suited for adults only. He needs a confident, experienced leader who understands how to enforce boundaries, offer guidance, and be patient. S'mores is a notable food guarder and must be fed in a separate area or in a crate to prevent issues. With the right structure and respect for his space, he becomes loving and playful. Keep in mind, he may have an old hip injury that calls for some care after active play. For S'mores, the ideal home is adult-only, experienced, and willing to work with a trainer who uses positive methods. He needs patience, a fenced yard, and at least one dog to play with. The rescue does not adopt outside the local area (Long Island, Westchester, NYC, and some parts of Connecticut), and adoption decisions are made based on best fit for each dog. Questions about Smores

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Corgis do well in a range of environments, from apartments to homes with yards, as long as they receive sufficient mental and physical stimulation. They enjoy being around their people and do best in settings where they have companionship and structure.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

While Corgis are adaptable, they appreciate access to a securely fenced yard for safe play and exercise. Regular walks and playtime are necessary, but they don’t require an enormous amount of space.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Corgis can be good with respectful, older children, but due to their herding instincts and sometimes bossy nature, supervision is important. Early socialization helps them coexist peacefully with kids.
