When a networker first saw Mel Brooks, a tiny 8-year-old Chiweenie, he was just looking for a sense of safety at the shelter. Frail, confused, and searching for kindness, he gently curled into the networker just hoping to be loved. It was October 4th, when he was brought to the shelter. But, just nine days later, on October 13th, his name appeared on the euthanasia list. Nine short days between being found and being forgotten. But Mel’s story doesn’t end there — because love stepped in. We couldn’t let this sweet senior’s life fade away unseen. Mel has a gentle heart and a spark of hope in his eyes, as if he somehow knows he’s finally been given a second chance. He is great with dogs, and humans. And just wants to be loved and curl up with you.
