Snickers is a 3-year-old mixed breed hound, including beagle, who came from a home with far too many dogs. He’s under 45lbs, fully grown, and easily one of the shyer personalities in the group. When he first arrived, Snickers hadn’t left his yard before and the outside world terrified him—especially leashes, busy streets, and unfamiliar people. Despite his nerves, he’s bonded strongly to the people he trusts and is making steady progress. He really comes alive around other dogs and would do best in a quiet adult home with a patient adopter and a calmer, more confident dog he can learn from. Snickers is particularly fearful of loud noises and gets overwhelmed during walks, often looking to retreat to safe spaces. Life in a shelter only adds to his stress. He’s had intermittent issues with ear infections and needs a hypoallergenic diet, which is helping keep things in check. At the vet, he can panic and sometimes needs medication to stay calm during exams. Otherwise, he’s healthy and just waiting for a quieter home to truly settle in.
