Decibel is a 3-year and 9-month-old neutered male domestic short hair in Youngsville, NC. He is house trained, up to date on vaccinations, and requires a monthly treatment to manage his skin. Decibel is FELV positive and needs a home with another FELV positive cat or to be an only kitty.

About Decibel

Decibel came to the rescue in rough shape—he was underweight and suffered skin problems from trying to survive outside on his own. Since then, he’s bounced back, putting on healthy weight and learning to relax indoors. Decibel is a big guy now, but he isn’t always confident standing up to dominant cats. He gets a monthly dose of revolution to keep his skin healthy. He’ll let you pet him, but he’s sensitive in certain spots and will nip to signal when he’s uncomfortable. Decibel loves making biscuits—though he doesn’t retract his claws, making him best suited for homes without young kids or first-time cat owners. He gets along well with everyone, including the senior dog in his foster home. He enjoys playing with just about anything, often entertaining himself, and happily keeps his human company on the couch or bed. Decibel is especially close with his young foster buddy, Cheesy Puff: they play, wrestle, and nap together all day. Because he is FELV positive, Decibel can only live with other FELV positive cats, but he could also thrive as an only cat. He’d be happiest in a home with another friendly FELV kitty who likes playtime. Ready to meet Decibel? Give him the safe, loving home he deserves. Click apply to start the adoption process.

Questions about Decibel

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Domestic short hair cats like Decibel do not require access to outdoor space. In fact, due to his FELV status and previous health issues, Decibel should be kept indoors for his safety and well-being.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Many domestic short hair cats are good with children. However, Decibel’s sensitivity and tendency to nip when touched in certain spots mean he is a better fit for adult homes or families with older, respectful children.
