About Lena

Lena was found as a stray in New York and ended up at NYCACC, where fear made her 'rescue only.' After being saved by a dedicated foster, she’s blossomed into a lovable goof with striking black and white markings. Lena is about five, and a Border Collie/Pit mix—a bundle of brains, energy, and heart. She’s happiest in a home where someone’s around most of the day, or where she can tag along to work. Another dog in the house helps her thrive, as she loves to play, share, and snuggle with her canine companions. She’s best with adults and teens over 16, and appreciates slow introductions to new people. Crowds and chaos are not her scene. Give her puzzles or a peanut butter treat and she’ll keep herself busy, but her true joy is running on the beach or chasing her beloved squeaky ball (even if bringing it back isn’t her strong suit). Lena excels with house manners—no chewing, no fooling around, and she’s crate trained. She learns fast, responds to commands, and always takes treats with a gentle mouth. She still needs a bit of leash work and will need extra patience around fireworks. Lena’s a survivor with a sweet, affectionate nature and will give you devotion in return for a stable, loving home. Questions about Lena

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Lena’s Border Collie and Pit mix background means she thrives in an active home with space to play and people who enjoy walks, runs, or other activities. She’s happiest where she can get mental and physical stimulation every day.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Lena will benefit from a yard or nearby park for daily exercise. Her high energy requires room to run and opportunities to burn off energy outside.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Lena’s breed mix can be good with older children, but Lena is looking for a home with teens or adults, so families with kids over 16 would be the best fit.
