About Lena
Lets make it official, apply to adopt! Lena's journey began when she arrived at NYCACC, New York City's municipal shelter, as a stray, feeling very fearful and in need of rescue. Thanks to a compassionate rescuer, she got a second chance and has since blossomed into an active, sweet, and playful companion. Estimated to be around 5 years old and weighing about 55 pounds, Lena is a beautiful Border Collie and Pit mix with a short, striking black and white coat. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and house trained—she even willingly enters her crate and respects all boundaries in the home without the need for gates. Lena is best suited for homes with adults and teenagers (over 16) and prefers environments without crowds, as she is still learning to meet people at her own pace. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playtime and sharing toys. Lena completed a training program and continues to improve her leash skills, thriving with active toys, puzzles, and frequent beach visits. She’s smart, affectionate, and responds well to commands—known to be gentle when taking treats and never chews on anything she shouldn’t. Lena experienced a rough time as a stray, but her sweet, loving, goofy personality has shone through in her foster home. She’s looking for someone to love her unconditionally and is ready to bring joy and laughter to her forever family. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
